Should Women Go Home?

John MacArthur, a pastor, best-selling author and radio host, told a group of pastors at the Truth Matters Conference that author and teacher Beth Moore should “go home.” They contend she should not preach, and called her a narcissist. Tune in to hear exactly what was said, and why this may be one of the most embarrassing moments in their lives as men.

  • Hi Carrie, I appreciated your perspective on this charged subject. As I've said in other responses I've been reading on Facebook, while I'm no expert when it comes to the various roles of men and women within the church, I do know boorish behavior by others when I hear it, and I was embarrassed just listening to it. This is the behavior we should be seeing from a anyone when it's said that people will know who we follow because of our love for each other as believers (paraphrased). Publicly mocking someone is never going to live up to that expectation. We all make mistakes so hopefully he and the others involved will own up to them. We don't all have to agree with each other, but we should show each other respect regardless of our views. In this case, everyone on that stage fell short and those in the audience that cheered and applauded what was happening should evaluate their response as well

  • Hi Carrie, I have always admired John McArthur but yesterday’s broadcast unfortunately put him in a whole other light for me. I’m also familiar wit Todd Friel who put Beth Moore’s name out there as a “Word” to trample over. I was so very disappointed in these men of God! I know a little of Beth’s testimony and she speaks from a place that those men could never relate to. As I do believe that women should not lead congregations as head pastors there is nothing wrong with a woman teaching what God has called her to teach. She has blessed so many people with her wisdom and knowledge of the scriptures! I pray that she will not allow the slandering of her name stop her from being used by God. She should not go home but press on in the faith and show her brothers in Christ that she is faithful to her calling.
